Participating ground-based observatories

VLA:

Approved VLA program led by Bin Chen targeting flares. The program runs in the 4-8 GHz C band and has a 300"-600" field of view (18 hours in total). Can be triggered when the Sun shows abundant flare activities.

ALMA:

Director's Discretionary Time proposal led by Kevin Reardon. Observations on October 18, October 25, and November 4 (baseline, flexible if there are weather issues and/or better coordination times).

DKIST:

Director's Discretionary Time proposal led by Alexandra Tritschler (w/ Thomas Schad, Daniel Müller, Krzysztof Barczynski, Chris Nelson, Miho Janvier) for the long-term AR SOOP. The program involves Cryo-NIRSP when target is at the limb, then VBI + ViSP when target is on disk. ~4 days of observations.

Details of the observations are as follows:

10/18/2022 Off-Limb Observations - Experiment EID_1_122 - Cryo-NIRSP only

This was a Test run of the Observing Programs, but a whole data set has been obtained.

Multiple executions of the observing programs of Experiment EID_1_122.

OP1: R1.08 with slit parallel to limb ; SP intensity scans in 1074 and 1079, CI 1083 ; 400 step raster

OP2: R1.08 with slit parallel to limb ; SP polarimetric scans 1074, CI 1083 ; 100 step raster

OP3: R1.08 with slit parallel to limb ; Deep CryoNIRSP coarse raster for magnetic field measurements off-limb; SP1074, CI 1083  ; 10 step raster

Observing time frame: 18:30 - 21:30 UTC

10/19/2022 Off-Limb Observations - Experiment 122 - Cryo-NIRSP only

Full data set: OP1, OP2,

Observing time frame: 19:00 - 23:00 UTC

10/20/2022 Off-Limb Observations - Experiment 122 - Cryo-NIRSP only

Full data set: OP1, OP2, OP2

Observing time frame: 18:30 - 21:45 UTC

10/21/2022 On-Disk Observations - Experiment EID_1_123 - ViSP and VBI-Blue/Red

2 complete ViSP maps/rasters ; limb pointing at about (-843”,+229”)

Observing time frame: 18:30 - 21:15 UTC

10/24/2022 On-Disk Observations - Experiment EID_1_123 - ViSP and VBI-Blue/Red

2 complete ViSP maps/rasters targeting a pore at (-397”, 198”) within the IRIS FOV

some incomplete (early terminated) ViSP rasters likely simalar pointint with IRIS FOV overlap

Observing time frame: 18:15 - 22:15 UTC

THEMIS:

Approved THEMIS program led by Miho Janvier for the long-term AR SOOP. The program involves spectro-polarimetry + broadband imaging of the target(s). Running from Oct. 20th till Nov. 10th.

GST/BBSO:

Approved GST TAC program led by Miho Janvier for the long-term AR SOOP. The program involves Broad-band Filter Imager, Visible Imaging Spectrometer and the Near-infrared Imaging Spectro-polarimeter

Mauna Loa Solar Observatory (UCoMP):

Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Upgraded Coronal Multi-Channel (UCoMP) instrument and K-Cor white light coronagraph provide synoptic observations. The K-Cor white light coronagraph acquires white light polarization brightness images of the solar corona from 1.05 to 3 solar radii at 15 sec cadence. Point of contact: Joan Burkepile
